It was with great sadness that in early January our President Pat Lewis passed away. As a winner of villager of the year, cornerstone to the hall committee and great supporter of both villages she will be greatly missed. Her commitment and dedication to all things locally had to be admired and will be a great loss to all.

Once again the hall has had a good year with lots of bookings from regular user groups, individuals and other bookings from outside the village. Our own fund raising has gone on a pace, we are trying the raise money for improvements, in combination with grant funding, to make the hall more energy efficient, greener and generally a nicer place to hold events. The dances held by Rena and Malcolm are always popular, as is the Rock n Roll nights. Two successful jumble sales and the monthly cinema nights all help to raise funds. In September we held our first Autumn Fayre and Dog Show with art, produce and photography competitions, classic and vintage motorcycles and cars, reptiles, ferrets and craft and trade stands. Fun was had by all and for our first time all went really well. Next year we hope to make it bigger and better as we will also be celebrating our 60th year.

Another successful year for the village hall and booking were upon 2013.

There are many regular groups at the hall plus the addition of other bookings from caravan rallies to wedding receptions make the hall a very busy place, towards the end of the year there was not a weekend free. The Blood Donor Sessions have been particularly successful with sessions being oversubscribed, let's hope the sessions in 2015 are also well attended.

New signs have been erected with lighting and new lighting on the front of the hall which helps light up the car park and entrance making it safer and  more energy efficient than the previous lights.

During the year we have had a number of surveys done with regard to our energy efficiency and hope that in 2015 with the aid of some grant money we will be carrying on with our long term plan for improving the hall, upgrading the insulation and revamping the stage.

At the AGM in November Pat Lewis stepped down as Chairman, Barbara Buck was elected as the new chairman. Pat will remain on the committee as President. Jon Dickinson was nominated by Pat to become Vice Chairman.

We look forward to another good year in 2015.

Spring 2013

Pat Lewis kindly stepped in as acting chairman until the next AGM and the Trustees welcomed Baraba Buck and Jon Dickinson on to the committee.

January 2013

Sadly on the 18th January our Chairman Graham Dickinson passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed at the village hall for his work and dedication, especially in the previous 12 months helping to take the hall through a huge transformation including the upgrading of the kitchen, installation of a purpose built bar area, a projector and further sound equipment to enable local cinema nights.

The Village Hall has been very fortunate to have received a donation  £29057.00 from the Forest of Dean Local Action Group under the Rural Development Programme for England. This enabled the upgrading of the kitchen, installation of a purpose built bar area, a projector and further sound equipment. Work on the projects took place over the last 6-8 months, hopefully with minimum disruption to users of the Village Hall. The Trustees apologise for any inconvenience caused but feel sure that the improvements will be of benefit to everyone who uses the Village Hall.

About 99.8% of the work was finished on schedule with a few little items to be completed

The projector, bar , kitchen and refreshment area have been trialed  and with a few minor adjustments should operate successfully in the future.
